Conflict of interest

1
Access4you Certification - Accredited Partners

Prospective Access4you Accredited Partners undergo comprehensive accreditation training, during which they acquire extensive knowledge and practical skills in accessibility auditing, certification methodologies, and inclusive design principles. Access4you Accredited Partners must fulfil stringent requirements to maintain their accredited status. Each Partner organisation must employ at least one certified Access4you Auditor and demonstrate commitment to accessibility expertise. They must also implement a quality assurance framework that aligns with Access4you's Certification Quality Standards and its conflict-of-interest management protocols.

2
Becoming a certified Access4you Auditor

Candidates must sign a ‘Conflict of Interest’ Form as part of the eligibility requirements for taking the training and exam, and the Form will be attached to their contractual obligations.

To achieve Access4you Auditor (Building AP) certification, professionals participate in accreditation training that covers the Access4you certification system, audit methodologies for evaluating accessibility across 8+1 stakeholder groups, documentation requirements for certification submissions, and the organisation's impartiality and conflict-of-interest framework. Training includes practical fieldwork with accessibility assessment tools, collaborative workshops analysing real-world building scenarios, and case studies of typical on-site audit situations. Certified Auditors must operate within an accredited Partner organisation—independent auditing is prohibited under the Access4you system. Complete the partner inquiry form on the Access4you Certification page to receive information about upcoming accreditation training sessions and partnership opportunities.

Conflict of Interest Management

Access4you maintains rigorous standards for impartiality and objectivity in all certification activities. Our conflict of interest policy ensures that certification decisions remain independent and free from undue influence. This framework establishes clear boundaries between auditing activities and other business relationships, preventing situations where financial or personal interests could compromise the integrity of accessibility assessments.

The policy addresses several key areas that could potentially impact auditor independence:

  • Certification Partners may not audit properties where they have provided design or remediation services within the previous 24 months.
  • Auditors must disclose any financial interests, business relationships, or personal connections with property owners or operators being assessed.
  • Access4you conducts regular reviews of Partner organisations to verify adherence to independence standards and quality protocols.
  • All certification decisions are subject to technical review by Access4you's quality assurance team, providing an additional layer of oversight.
  • Partners must maintain a clear separation between audit teams and any business development or sales functions within their organisation

This comprehensive approach to conflict-of-interest management ensures that Access4you certifications represent genuine, unbiased assessments of accessibility performance. By maintaining these high standards of impartiality, we protect the credibility of the certification process and uphold stakeholder trust in the reliability of accessibility information provided through the Access4you platform.

If a Conflict of Interest violation is reported or discovered, an independent legal advisor will review the case, which may result in the revocation of A4U Building AP status and a ban on any future A4U association.
